Zé Paulo Becker
The guitar has always been the most popular instrument in Brazil. Omnipresent, it can be heard throughout the generations and in all styles of music. Zé Paulo Becker joins a long line of guitar-players that started with Quincas Laranjeiras, a contemporary of Villa-Lobos, and which continued with Baden Powell. After graduating from Uni-Rio, Rio de Janeiro's music school, Becker won the National Villa-Lobos Contest in 1990. Since then, he has recorded prolifically, both alone and with his group, Trio Madeira Brasil.
