Susana Baca

Susana Baca is a key figure in the revival of Afro-Peruvian music within Peru. She was born in Chorrillos, a coastal fishing village, where she founded the Instituto Negrocontinuo (Black Continuum Institute). With a splendid voice and equally impressive interpretive gifts, she has contributed much to the international popularity of a culture that had previously been little recognized.
