The partnership between Soledad Bravo and Pablo Milanès began with a trip to Cuba, where Soledad met the young and passionate Cuban troubadours: Pablo Milanés and Silvio Rodríguez. The artistic complicity between Pablo and Soledad grew stronger with the years. Soon after, the two met in Caracas and Havana to record three duets: "Yolanda," "El breve espacio en que no estás," and "De qué callada manera". Thrilled by the result, Antonio Sánchez decided to gather together all of Milanés' material that Soledad had performed through her career. "Trova de Amor" is the first anthology of Pablo Milanés greatest songs with his most talented singer, Soledad Bravo.

All of the tracks here were previously unreleased since 1979, no less, when (with the help of the virtuoso guitarist Dioni Velasquez) the first tracks were recorded. These songs were originally intended to remain confidential, and were supposed to be offered to a half-dozen friends across the world. They would have remained unreleased  if Egon Kragel, the artistic director of Last Call Records, hadn't listened to them by chance, and insisted on putting them on an album. Soledad then suggested to add a few songs from her repertoir which she had never recorded before. In her Madrid studio, five more tracks were recorded. The result is an album of Tangos, Boleros, Rancheras, and other Latin American songs, sung by none other than the Latin American diva par excellence, Soledad Bravo.
