Born in Dakar, the vibrating capital of Senegal, Sister Fa took her first steps in music back in 2000 by getting acquainted with the local rap scene and recording her debut demo-tape. She injects the energy and creativity of West Africa's Hip Hop metropolis into her own music with inimitable artistic expression. Her lyrics examine social, political and personal subjects, but she uses her music above all for her fight against the tradition of female genital mutilation.

Faced with the struggle of making it as a female hip hop artist in a male-dominated society and genre, Sister Fa was able to become internationally known with her debut album, "Tales from the Flipside of Paradise." A strong album confronting the injustices in her native country, she raps in Wolof, Manding, Jola, and French. Her groovy, warm songs are influenced by the old school hip hop from the 1980s.
