Sharon Shannon is an accordionist and fiddler, who also plays the tin whistle and melodeon. Her work at the end of the 80's with musicians such as Adam Clayton, Mike Scott and Steve Wickham led to Shannon's joining The Waterboys, at the time of the recordings of the "Room to Roam" album. Her 1991 solo album remains one of the best selling album of traditional Irish music ever released there. Since that time, she has been recording with a large number of friends (Nigel Kennedy, Steve Earle, Jackson Browne, Kirsty MacColl, Christy Moore, Sinéad O'Connor, Mundy, ...). In 2009, she picked up a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Meteor Music Awards.
