Libérons Lapiro ! - Free Lapiro ! (compilation)

Lapiro de Mbanga is a Cameroonian singer who was sentenced to 3 years in prison. His only crime is to have written "Constipated Constitution," a song which denounced the maneuvers of the president of the Republic of Cameroon, Paul Biya, who has been in power for 26 years, to change the constitution. Many musicians got together to ask for his liberation. They offer you this compilation.

Lapiro is still in prison but this compilation - which was created by musicians including Apkass, Selector Matanzas, Fedayi Pacha, Nibs Van Der Spuy, Jawarit, Jr Eakee, Meiway, El Kapel and Fedayi Pacha - is not available anymore as it is no longer the best form of pressure on the Cameroonian government. Pressure is now being channelled through the UN and various complaints bodies. Here's to hoping that Lapiro will be liberated in the near future...

Thank you for supporting Lapiro de Mbanga. Here is the text of the petition that we invite you to sign :
President of the Republic of Cameroon,

Please kindly release immediately Sandjo Lambo Pierre Roger, a musician known as Lapiro de Mbanga who was sentenced to three years in prison and a considerable fine after an unfair trial, while many witnesses testify that he is innocent of the crime he is accused: being behind the riots that occurred in February 2008 in Mbanga.
