Nass El Ghiwane
Nass El Ghiwane is a Moroccan musical band, born in the 1960s in one of Casablanca's poorest neighborhoods. It was basically made of 5 musicians: Omar Sayed, Larbi Batma, Boujmaa, Alal Yaala and Aziz Tahiri, who was later replaced by Abderhmane Paco. Thanks to their committed and poetic lyrics reflecting the Moroccan youth's unrest at the time, and thanks to their powerful rhythms, played by traditional instruments, they have revolutionized Moroccan and Maghreb music and have left an indelible trace in the country's cultural landscape.
