Mahala Raï Banda
There are two very distinct centres for Romanian music : in Clejani, just south of Bucharest, the violinists, cymbalom players and double bassists are found, and in Zece Prajini, north east of the capital in Moldavia, one finds the wind instrumentalists. Mahala Rai Banda (literally meaning Noble Band from the Ghetto) combine both village traditions alongside an enthusiastic rhythm section.
