Born in the Southern plains of Madagascar, Jean-Emilien was introduced to music by his grandfather. After some rough beginnings, including the disapproval of his father of his "futile" career plans, he was eventually able to delve into the universe of his home island sounds. Listeners are fortunate to hear the harmonious mix of his "kabosse," the traditional guitar of Madagascar," and the hymnal chants of his harmonica.
