Hugh Masekela is an awesome trompet, cornet, and bugle player of South African jazz. With more than forty years of career and thirty years of exile due to his strugle against apartheid, he played with many great international musicians.

Phola (which means "to get well") is the second recording by this South African jazzman signed to 4 Quarters Entertainment/ Times Square Records. This album contains songs written in the 1980s that were never fully finished by the composer, and also a revising of "The joke of life" that was recorded in the mid 80s.
