Fapy Lafertin was born in 1950 in Courtrai in Belgium in a gipsy community. From a very young age, he begun to play the repertoire of the Hot Club De France with the Piotto orchestra. From 1975 till 1985, he starred in the group WASO with Coen de Cauter, which was so succesful it popularized Django's Hot Club Jazz worldwide.
