Recorded at Bamako's Studio Bogolan during an intense week rich in emotion, this album has allowed Djélimady Tounkara to expand his range of musical colors. Made confident by his long experience and his recent musical encounters, Djélimady has given free reign to his improvisational talent on the acoustic guitar (as well as on the electric guitar in two tracks) in a subtle and elegant fashion. A faithful guardian of the Malinké tradition, he has managed to modernize it without betraying it, endowing it with a universal tone and character. "Solon Kôno" is an album by a great, inspired guitarist, and it marks a new stage in the rich and varied history of Malian music. Released in 2005 on Marabi.

For this first solo album, Djelimady Tounkara wanted an acoustic concept, recorded with old friends and acquaintances, as well as young musicians with whom he has created strong ties and found affinities. So he made a band which puts strings and vocals to the front and very light percussions in the back. His compositions and arrangements reveal a subtle melodist and refined composer, in short, a complete musician.
