Djavan
Djavan (whose full name is Djavan Caetano Viana) is an important Brazilian singer, born in 1949 in Brazil's Nordeste. He combines traditional South American rhythms with popular music drawn from America, Europe and Africa. He can aptly be categorized in either of the following musical genres: Música Popular Brasileira (Brazilian pop), samba, and Latin dance.

A brilliant collection of covers that have inspired Djavan over the years. The singer reinvents songs such as Caetano Veloso's "Oração ao Tempo," Bert Howard's "Fly Me to the Moon," and Antonio Carlos Jobim's "Brigas Nunca Mais", with sparse instrumentation (André Vasconcellos on double bass, Marcos Suzano on drums and Torcuato Mariano on guitar), giving each tune a more intimate feel.

Djavan Na Pista, etc." is the second album released by Djavan's independent record label, Luanda Records. Released in October of 2005, the album finds Djavan back in the studio rerecording and electronically reinventing some of his most well known hits including "Fato Consumado" (1976), "Tanta Saudade" (1983 collaboration with Chico Buarque), "Sina" (1982), Grammy Winner "Acelerou" (1999). The result is a dance inducing mix of Brazilian Samba and Latin Salsa from an artist who is not afraid to reinvent himself.
