Don't be fooled by his youthfulness, Cobra Verde is a fully-fledged "Sanfoneiro " ( an accordionist who plays the Forró ). He was trained in the region of São Domingos, a small rural town situated in north-eastern Brazil renowned for its manioc flour along with its sanfoneiros.

Some compositions were written by Cobra Verde (notably " Forró de Cobra Verde" and "Valsa para Theó") but the album also includes covers of music by Luiz Gonzaga (Sabiá", "Chorão / Xote do Coice") and by Gennaro ("Forró Pifando.") Cobra Verde's wife, Alexsandra, is often found singing alongside him, as well as Clemilda, one of the historical legends of the Forró tradition, and last but not least Adelmario Coelho, one of Forró's national stars.
