Muddy Waters

McKinley Morganfield, better known as Muddy Waters, was a North American blues musician and is generally considered one of the greatest bluesmen of all time. His journey towards international fame began with the tracks he recorded in a plantation in the Mississippi Delta in 1940 for Alan Lomax on behalf of the Library of Congress. Raised by his aunt in Mississippi, Muddy Waters – real name McKinley Morganfield – moved to Chicago in the mid-forties and by the end of the decade his career had really set sail. Muddy Waters was a huge inspiration for the British beat explosion in the 1960's and considered by many to be one of the most influential artists of the twentieth century.
